Kenyan air travel takes off

There are some interesting developments going on in Kenyan air travel. For one thing, it’s increasing the number of flights to South Sudan, for another, it’s going to start receiving more flights from Gulf Air.
South Sudan is now separate from North Sudan and is being seen as a promising destination for trade and industry, as well as tourism. To take advantage of this promise and also to help encourage its growth, Kenya Airways will double its flights to the country’s capital city of Juba. That means that Kenya Airways will have two flights per day between Juba and Nairobi. Commenting on the decision, CEO of Kenya Airways Titus Naikuni said, “We are very encouraged and excited about the uptake of our services to Juba since we started flying there mid last year. Transport is a key element in the enhancement of trade and we believe that regular flights to the region will go a long way in enhancing trade between Kenya and Sudan.”

The Kingdom of Bahrain, on the other hand, has recognised Kenya’s burgeoning potential and has implemented four weekly flights to Nairobi. This is in the interests of tourism and business. Chief Services Officer of Gulf Air, Marcus Bernhardt said, “Kenya’s economic growth and stability were key factors in making Nairobi the fourth Gulf Air African destination. There is a huge business opportunity waiting to be unlocked.”
The Gulf Air flights mark the end of a six-year absence from Nairobi, which strongly suggests that the rest of the world should start taking Kenya as seriously as the Middle East.
